Heroic Age: 1 Month To Live #1- Because only in comics could someone swallow biowaste and gain superpowers, even if it means they die in a month. As a whole the concept is ok and the talents involved put out a decent story, but there wasn’t much else going on for this series. It doesn’t blow you away and while it’s a fine read it has a lot to compete against this week and it just doesn’t bring much else to the table. Never mind that IDW also released 5 Days To Die this week, so we’ll just skip over who gets bragging rights on the concept. B-

Baltimore The Plague Ships #2- I’m really loving Ben Stenbeck’s art with this issue, he tells such an atmospheric story and maintains enough of his own style while adopting the Hellboy-verse style. And it’s a good thing he can tell such a great story visually because man, this was a super fast read. Like, lightening fast. Ideally the entire TP package will make up for that. B+

Our Army At War One Shot- It’s not the worst thing of the week and the split narrative was well done, but as a whole for $3.99 this book wasn’t necessary by any means. Utilizing 9-11 imagery in a comic like this is something I would prefer they avoid in general. For tributes and donations, fine, but it always walks a fine line between insulting and unnecessary when placed in the context of a superhero universe. This book avoids that by maintaining the war comics theme and not necessarily happening in continuity, but then why bother using Sgt Rock anyway? The subject matter can go either way depending on the reader really, but as a whole the story and art were ok but not quite worth the $3.99. C+

I Am An Avenger #1- I’m really loving Chris Samnee’s art these days, so the first Young Avengers story here is worth the read right off the bat. The Iron Fist/Misty Knight story was decent, and anything with Squirrel Girl is automatically awesome. But $3.99 for 22-pages of story and the completely random mix of characters(well, Avenger members, but let’s face it that’s practically the entire Marvel Universe) make this unnecessary. While it’s an ok concept for a random anthology series, the price point needs to drop. B-

Tom Strong And the Robots of Doom #4- While I enjoyed the issue, I am at the point of thinking this series could have been trimmed back to a four issue mini. It feels like it’s taking forever to get it finished and the $3.99 for 22-pages is kinda weak despite the story being solid. B+
