X-Club #2- Very Warren Ellis like in the script, but a lot of fun with a great sense of humor. Dr Nemesis getting a mutant empathic starfish attached to his head so all of his inner deepest thoughts are broadcast to the world in all their snarky glory is amazing. The title is pretty much crazy mutant science fun and runs with it, something more X-Men books need to do on a regular basis. A-

Stormwatch #5- This title is vexing because while I’m generally not caring about the revamping of these characters Paul Cornell is still inserting little bits of fun and brilliance across it to keep me vaguely interested. The Midnighter/Swordsman fight was fun, and the ending does make you want to come back except for the fact that it might drag into a few other books which just seems too early for the DC revamp. B

House of Night #2- I thought I was just going to give up after the first issue but I figure I’d keep giving this title a chance and it’s not a bad read overall. It’s definitely geared towards teen girls as it will appeal to both Harry Potter and Twilight fans. Essentially it’s like a more competent and less annoying Bella is chosen to become a nice vampire at Hogwarts and has to learn different lessons about friendship and so on with every issue. I just wonder if this is actually reaching the audience it’s meant for because it’s not going to last long without hitting that tween demographic. B

Wolverine and the X-Men: Alpha & Omega #1- Hey, it’s the creator of DMZ, Demo, and other neo-punk dystopian sci-fi epics about couriers that take place in demilitarized zones. He’s writing a Marvel series starring Wolverine and Kid Omega, and Wolverine ends up……in a dystopian futuristic demilitarized zone…where he is a courier. Huh. I like Brian Wood, but man, the word one-trick pony is kinda popping up in my head at the moment. For those of you thinking you absolutely have to get this as part of the launch of Wolverine & The X-Men, you do not, repeat, you do not have to at all. It wasn’t a bad first issue, but for $3.99 it really didn’t compare to the main series and it was a little lack luster for Wood. B

Severed #5- Creepy book is still creepy. Read if you want to be creeped out by a child serial killer. B+
