Why You Should Know It: Unfortunately, it's not really worth the full price. While there are some interesting side stories in here that answer some good questions (like whatever happened to the Wireless woman, the one who found Tim in the desert), a lot of the stories are kind of.......amateur? The art direction seems kinda fractured, and most of the script writers are not comic writers so that explains a lot. A hefty chunk of the art is in the Michael Turner school style, so if that's not your cup of tea the majority of the book will just bug you.
On the plus side, each chapter break has the original Tim Sale art from the show (just not all of it). On the straight up disappointing side, they don't include any of the comic pages with Hiro that Sale did. Which, y'know, kind of seems like a given if you were any idiot in marketing. Ideally down the road they will just release an all Tim Sale art collection, putting everything from the series in it (the paintings, the 9th Wonder covers, the 9th Wonder interior pages, the unfinished 9th Wonder pages from the future, and if they were really smart they would include the Alex Maleev art from the end of Season 1).
If you like this then try: Superman For All Seasons, Batman The Long Halloween, Marvels, Astro City, pretty much anything else really
